When we founded Dirty Work Software, it was because we knew contractors deserve more than generic software that bends you out of shape and steals your time.  

As working Oklahoma contractors, we struggled with cookie-cutter products, but the real tipping point came with the day-to-day messes—and we knew we couldn’t be alone in our frustration.

Picture this:  
After a typical work week, our crews would come back with paper time logs—sometimes wrinkled, sometimes splattered with fish-bait stains from a fishing trip the day before, and sometimes not filled out until minutes before showing up for a check on Friday.  

We would spend hours hunting down scribbled notes, deciphering half-erased times, and combining logs written on everything from notepads to napkins.

To make matters worse, employees genuinely believed they’d put in a full week, and yet somehow, those logs would turn twenty hours of honest work into forty hours of 'work'—leaving us in the dark with little choice but to pay the amount or risk delaying the rest of payroll over the weekend.

Every week was a mad scramble, chasing down data from multiple sources, fixing math errors, wrong job or task names, and then manually keying it all into the system right before the payroll cutoff time.  

Even worse, when we tried “modernizing,” those mobile apps we were promised would save us?  
They never worked right on our actual phones, constantly glitching, missing features we needed, and still leaving the office to do seemingly-simple things like record creations, edits or reports.

We didn’t get freedom—we got more frustration, and always needed an office person to push things across the finish line.

We realized we needed something better—something that fit how contractors actually work, and that’s exactly what we set out to build for ourselves.  

And after years of refactoring and tweaks, we finally made a system, and it reduced our payroll by 50% in the first month and we were finally able to respond to customers not only on the same day but within minutes! It changed our business overnight.

It worked so well that other frustrated business owners started asking how they could ditch their own busywork, chaos, and mismatched tools.
